Biting off…

…more than I can chew. It’s a standard operating procedure for me. I was doing better, only taking on tasks that I could easily finish and learning to say “no”. But I’ve had another setback. You see, I was offered another couple of transcribing jobs. Two months ago, I swore the last one I completed would be the last. But, of course, with a looming trip to the tropics and a dwindling checkbook I didn’t think I could pass up the opportunity to make some cash. So I took on a project with the understanding that it would be finished before I left for Hawaii. And then my laptop screen broke. MonkeyMan took it in for a repair estimate and what was supposed to take one day ended up taking ten. I was out of commission for almost two weeks. Which put me behind. I valiently took along my newly repaired computer on vacation and locked it up when we weren’t in the room. But I didn’t get much typing done. Three people in one room prevented me from getting much alone time. Several days I did wake before dawn and would type until one of the boys awoke. The best morning was the one in which I sneaked out onto the balcony overlooking the ocean and typed as the sun arose. Yet even with that, I’m still very behind. So while I’d love to be blogging, I’ll probably be wearing my fingers to the bone finishing up this project in the next couple days.

But speaking of biting and chewing, I thought I’d throw in this picture of MonkeyBoy. This was from one of the first mornings on Oahu. We had gotten him out of the hotel crib when he woke up and MonkeyMan had run for coffee. I was trying to finish up one of my projects, and didn’t notice that MonkeyBoy had stripped off his jammies, grabbed a bag of “fishies”, and had made himself at home on the bed. He was happily chowing down while indulging in a little Disney Channel, a luxury he enjoys when we travel since we don’t have cable at home.
