Boogers

MonkeyBoy’s current fascination is boogers. He’s known about them for awhile, since I used them as a way to get him to learn how to blow his nose back when he had a cold months ago. He’d fight me getting anywhere near him with a Kleenex, I’d win and force a tissue against his nose commanding him to “blow your nose”, he’d give in, and I’d reward him by “peeking” inside the tissue and shrieking “Eww! Boogers! Gross!”. He would grin and giggle, and it only took a few of these episodes before he willingly wiped his nose himself, just so he could tell me “Boogers, Mommy. Eww! Gross!”

He’s now progressed from tissues into full finger up the nose exploration. Earlier this week he came running to MonkeyMan with his fingers outstetched – “Look, Daddy! A booger from my nose!” I think MonkeyMan was appropriately impressed, so the trick continues. We often have conversations about boogers now, and he likes to tell us “I have boogers up my nose”. On the ride home from dinner this evening, he reached out his fingers towards me and said “Mommy, I have a booger for you.” Sure enough, there was a green blob on his finger. Luckily I had a tissue, so I wiped off his fingers while he giggled at me. Little boys, is there anything better?
