Curse you, PBS…

PBS has changed their lineup and added in new shows. This includes a new offering by the Jim Henson workshop, Dinosaur Train. MonkeyBoy is in love with the show. I don’t mind that, but I do mind that he’s now changed what he wants to be for Halloween. Again.
Several weeks ago we went to the fabric store and looked at patterns. He couldn’t decide what he wanted to be, but he liked looking at all the options. Then on the way out of the store, he saw a placemat shaped like a watermelon. So he decided he wanted to be a watermelon. Odd, but I could work with it and craft up something.
Then a few days later he decided that he wanted to be something from the pattern books, so when the store was having a $1 pattern sale, I bought a few. Next we found a darling train conductor costume. He was pretty consistent on wanting to be that for a week or two, he loves trains, and its something he can wear for play or regular clothing so my folks generously bought it for him. He’s been enjoying wearing the cap ever since (I don’t let him wear the overalls yet – have to save something for Halloween!). But today while out shopping we browsed the Halloween aisles and MonkeyBoy spied a dinosaur costume. And thanks to his new favorite TV show, he’s all about the dinosaurs. That’s all he talked about all evening. “I want to be a dinosaur for Halloween!” Over and over and over. I tried to convince him that the show was really about the dinosaur train and he could be just like the conductor of the train. His response, “No choo-choo man! No conductor! I wanna be a dinosaur for Halloween!”. Luckily for me, I was able to track down a cute dinosaur costume this evening and I can go pick it up in the morning. Crossing my fingers that he doesn’t change his mind again. I’m thinking mixing the dinosaur with the conductor costume and having a one-of-a-kind representation of his new favorite show!
So I want to curse PBS b/c our station moved “Curious George” from 4:30 in the afternoon (perfect afternoon diversion) to like 8 in the morning. UGH! I’d like to check out “Dinosaur Train”–I’m a big Henson fan and Audrey really likes dinosaurs…
