Fishing at the Zoo

I took MonkeyBoy to the zoo today and he had a blast in the children’s area. He spent so much time “fishing”, oblivious to the real thing swimming inches from him.

  1. Is the zoo worth the trip then??

  2. Wow, that looks fun. quite a boy we have.

  3. Yes, definitely worth it. They had a nice sized children’s area with the fishing, an “underwater” tunnel entrance, a play zoo with concession stand (kitchen) and ticket booth, some outdoor toys, and a sandy beach and pond that kids were welcome to splash in. The animal displays throughout had low walls which made it easy for MonkeyBoy to see into – I had to keep a close eye on him to keep him from climbing over some of them. There are also bird and butterfly enclosures where you can purchase nectar to feed the animals. We didn’t do this as it would have freaked out MonkeyBoy to have them fly at him. Maybe in a few years. We were able to do the whole zoo in about two hours, and then rode the zoo park train afterwards (another hit!).
