Run quick….

… the train is gonna get you!

He actually had a fabulous time visiting with and riding Thomas the Tank Engine. He’s still talking about it five hours later, as we try to get him down for bed. It’s just that the pictures were unfortunately taken soon after the Great Doggie-Shaped-Balloon Popping Tragedy of 2009. So an already upset boy was traumatized further by mommy walking three feet away to take a picture as an event volunteer talked to him while also trying to take his picture. Way too much drama for our shy, sensitive boy. We were able to track down the clown who made him a balloon and get a replacement for the ride home, which made him much happier.

At the event we had to take a little map to four checkpoints (including the official photo shoot location and the gift shop – they had their marketing down well), and receive stamps at each checkpoint. We traded the fully stamped map for a prize – a little 3D poster. MonkeyBoy is so proud of this poster, he rolls and unrolls it, counts the number of facial features on Thomas (one nose, two eyes…), and had to take it to bed with him tonight.

I’m glad I took advantage of my day off and drove to the Thomas site (an hour and a half away). It was well worth it to see my little boy’s eyes light up in wonder.
