- My dad was here visiting last week. My mom had come for a week earlier in the month to help me while MonkeyMan was out of town, and I think my dad felt left out. MonkeyBoy misses them both and asks for them daily. I think he wore them both out with playing and shopping. With my mom, we visited quilt shops each day. With my dad, we rode trains each day. Considering MonkeyBoy started yelling “No! No quilt shops! Toy store!” towards the end of mom’s visit and “Let’s ride the train again!” at the end of dad’s, I think he has a definite preference in entertainment.
- I just finished up a month-long digital photography course. I’m no longer scared of my camera! For my class assignment last week, I took MonkeyBoy to a pumpkin patch in an attempt to learn my camera settings. Here are some of my favorites – dancing and pumpkin surfing:
- My dad was supposed to be on vacation while he was here, but he kept getting interrupted with work calls. That’s nothing new; Dad’s always been a 24/7 kind of worker and he enjoys what he does. I’ve always known him to be a good man, but I was very enlightened, entertained, and awed to see how he handled a problem that came up (he even made national news while he was here!). Even though I’m grown with a kid of my own, I still learn from the old people.
- MonkeyBoy decided to help me with laundry this week. His version of helping was to steal four socks out of the dryer and put them on his hands and feet.
- MonkeyBoy has been pacifier free for over a month. Which also means that he hasn’t had a nap in over a month. I try to wear him out each day so that maybe he’ll nap, but all that does is make me tired. So I still institute “quiet time” and make him stay in his room where he can read or play quietly in the hopes that maybe one of these days he’ll decide that naps are okay and he’ll go back to sleeping. Today I walked in after quiet time to discover this gruesome scene.
It appears the bony dinosaur has captured a bird and has eaten all but the head. T.Rex, turtle and armadillo watch bony dinosaur enjoy his meal. Off to the side a bear has mauled a cowboy and his horse, while the engineer in the passing train rubbernecks at the sight. On the other side of the bedroom, there was a queue of figures lined up for some reason. I’m not sure what their fate would have been had I not walked in.
