Cheap Sunday Thrills

Today we partook in a bunch of free activities.

First we headed over to the mall side of town. MonkeyBoy entertained himself by modeling a trick-or-treat basket on his head.

Then we went to the Build-A-Bear store as they had sent me a coupon for a free stuffed animal. I’m not sure why I rated this, but MonkeyBoy had a blast picking out a stuffed turkey which came in it’s own coop. He loves the coop so much that the poor turkey has to live in the box. I was impressed that we didn’t even have to pay tax, it was a completely free toy! MonkeyBoy was a little confused on the way to the store. I told him where we were headed and he said, “Yay! I can get my binkies back!” But when I explained that, no, it didn’t work that way and reminded him that he was a big boy who didn’t need binkies, he accepted it without protest.

After we finished up at the turkey building store, we headed to the local university for their children’s Halloween festival. MonkeyBoy enjoyed climbing on the fire truck, sitting in the police car (where he liked the back seat much better than the front – I hope that’s not some sort of foreshadowing), and he jumped in all the bouncy houses they had.

Quite a few storm clouds were passing over when we returned home, but we ended up not getting much rain until the middle of the night.
