Bears, Turkeys and Elvis, oh my!

Yesterday was a lovely weather day and we headed out to one of our annual traditions – the Children’s Parade. This parade has a special twist. Scattered among the floats and balloons are pickup trucks and at a designated time during the parade, the crowd barriers drop and all the children rush out to the pickup trucks and throw in new toys which will then be delivered to needy children.

Here’s MonkeyBoy waiting patiently for toy giveaway time.

MonkeyBoy grabs his ears as a comfort thing, and he wasn’t too sure of the giant balloons. Sometimes he’d run and hide behind me, and sometimes he’d just clutch his ears (or his hat, in this case).

Not every parade has a walking blood drop.

I’m not sure who received more applause – Elvis or Santa.
