Rite of Passage

MonkeyBoy has officially passed from toddler to little boy. What marks this passage? Pocket treasures.
He’s discovered the pockets of his pants and has figured out that he can store things there. I found these items in or on his clothes when I sorted for the washer this evening.

Laundry has [...]

Somersault!

MonkeyBoy and I signed up for the winter session of a Mommy and Me exercise class, which we have both been enjoying. Today he surprised me by going over to the equipment and rolling his first unassisted somersault. Especially impressive when you consider his first ever assisted somersault was only last week.

Book Nook

I’ve been wanting a bookshelf for MonkeyBoy’s room for over a year. I found some plans for the kind I wanted online, and MonkeyMan set to work on building them over the holiday break. Since we don’t have a workshop, he had to take over one side of the garage moving the project [...]

Stylin’ Sous Chef

Another busy weekend has come to an end. I was in charge of the audit committee for church, so I had meetings this week to make sure the books all balanced. Luckily this was the last year for my participation on the committee – four years is enough for now. MonkeyBoy came [...]

Swingtime

Today we enjoyed the wonderful weather by heading out to the park. MonkeyBoy is big enough now to enjoy the “big kid” swings.

Riding high

While I worked yesterday, MonkeyMan and MonkeyBoy headed out to the circus thanks to a Buy One, Get One Free coupon from a friend of mine. Looking through the photos it looks like the boys had a wonderful time. Cotton candy was eaten, a souvenir light saber was acquired, and and elephant was [...]

Are you a nutritionist?

It was our turn to take snacks to preschool again today but I wasn’t feeling very artsy like the last snacks. I knew they were finishing up their snowman theme, so I made up one more snowman treat. I mixed up Chocolate Mini Wheats, broken pretzels, dried fruit, and mini marshmallows in a [...]

Dinner suggestion

I made taco bake for dinner tonight, but MonkeyBoy was being finicky and not really interested in trying it. So he went over to the pantry and helped himself to the special treat I found on sale yesterday.

He tried to convince us that Froot Loops would make a fine dinner choice.
During dinner time, he [...]

Snacks and stuff

It was our turn for snack again at school (sorry, Jessica, you might want to scroll past this one!) The class has been studying snowmen (kind of crazy since average temperature is usually in the 60s, but I digress) so I made a savory cheese dip snowman with crackers. I was amazed at [...]

More toys: Little People edition

MonkeyBoy received a 70s era Fisher Price Little People house for Christmas (thanks, Ebay!) and it’s been fun to watch him enjoy it. He calls it “Grandma’s House”. I’m not sure if that’s because there’s a white haired little person or because he and my mom played with it while she was visiting. [...]
