- Yet another doctor’s appointment today. MonkeyBoy has a double ear infection. He’s been snotting and coughing all weekend and was so clingy yesterday that he fell asleep on the couch while watching TV.

- The last three times he’s awoken from sleep, he is inconsolably hysterical and screaming “I can’t see!!!”. He must think he’s gone blind while he was asleep. But really, his eyes are just crusted shut with eye goo.
- I’ve discovered that I really don’t like it when people hand me fresh-picked boogers.
- We had a new water heater installed this morning and hot water by noon. It was nice to take a shower again. I had contemplated going to the gym just to shower, but with MonkeyBoy’s cast I couldn’t figure out the logistics – if I took him in the shower room with me, he might get the cast wet; and the child care center didn’t seem like the right place to leave him with his cast and illness.
- Our new free water heater cost us over $500 in labor. Plumbing school just moved up my list of possible careers to explore as my current one ends.
- My current job will cease at the end of August. HR didn’t get the memo and I received a letter in Friday evening’s mail to let me know that their records indicated that I was no longer employed and my insurance has been canceled effective 28 February.
- Why do these things always happen on weekends?
- Luckily, my boss answers emails on weekends and says that I am still employed and is fighting that HR battle for me. And MonkeyBoy is on MonkeyMan’s insurance so I don’t have to worry about these medical bills he is racking up.
- I bought myself a therapy cheesecake the other day. After two slices, I was feeling much better and decided that I didn’t need to eat it all myself after all. So I invited over some of my friends for crafting and cheesecake. I think we were all quite productive.
- During craft night, I made a pillowcase for MonkeyBoy using scrap fabric from his bedding. Then I made a remote/Wiimote cozy. I have a chest from my grandmother that is in pristine condition. We use it to store electronics and I didn’t want the equipment on top to scratch the chest. So I created a runner, complete with pockets on the sides to hold all our remote controls and wiimotes. MonkeyBoy loves getting out the Wiimotes to play Wii Frisbee and Bowling.

- We’ve been working on sharing. It’s going well. So well that I think MonkeyBoy shared his germs with me. Thank goodness for my stash of LifeSavers – they soothe a sore throat better than anything. Uggghhhh….
Oh no on all accounts! I hear your pain with the hot water heater. We replaced ours last summer. It went out right after our AC went out. That was an expensive summer. And yeah, I figured the plumbers/AC guys make more than twice an hour what I make.
so glad monkeyboy immediately knows where the wii stuff goes — and that was so serendipitous that it fit the wii controllers too!
