Cast Removal

Today I took MonkeyBoy for his follow-up leg appointment and he is officially cast free. He wasn’t too thrilled with the “scary vacuum” that they used to saw the cast off, but he was very brave and let me snap a few pictures.

I also rewarded his bravery this afternoon with a new train for his growing collection. He chose Toby from the Thomas the Tank Engine Series.

There was new bone growth in the follow-up x-rays, so we were able to pinpoint the location of the break more easily. He’s still supposed to take it easy for the next two weeks and it might take up to eight weeks for him to walk normally again. This evening he was still walking as if his knee won’t bend. He also complained a lot today about the itching, dry skin, but a little lotion helps that. He did enjoy his first bath in a month this evening and seemed to love floating in the water. I’m very thankful that I won’t have to give him sponge baths anymore.
