Rainy Day Backup Plan

Our plans to attend the county fair were thwarted by torrential downpours which lasted most of the day. So we moved on to plan B – a trip to “Chunky Jesus”.
Calling “Chunky” to set up a playdate.

Meeting up with “Chunky” for a car ride.

Whacking some sharks.

Defending his air hockey goal.

Defending the planet.

Counting tickets.

Enjoying his [...]

Splash!

MonkeyBoy has been having fun running around the splash pad the past few days.

Even more exciting was the location. It wasn’t your ordinary everyday splash pad.

Snow!

It snowed here yesterday. Unfortunately for MonkeyBoy, we missed it. He and I had traveled to visit my parents a few days ago and just got back home today (where it is now 50 degrees and the snow is all gone). But all is not lost, my folks live in the land [...]

Going to Kansas City, Kansas City here we come

Well, actually we’ve already been there. Twice. Our journey last week took us through the Barbecue Capital of the North and I have to say it definitely lived up to its name. We had dinner one night at Jack Stack Barbecue and it was divine. They have a cheesy potato [...]

Childhood Dream Fulfilled

As a child I disliked Thanksgiving. Stuck in a car traveling long distances to see family and eat traditional holiday food, most of which I didn’t particularly like and some of which I loathed (I’m looking at you, green beans!).
Flash forward 30 years and I’m repeating some of those same patterns with my child. [...]

Travels

I made a travel map for MonkeyBoy a little over a year ago, and I thought it would be fun to update it. I didn’t realize we had traveled so much this past year, but he’s doubled the amount of states he’s been to, plus he collected that Canadian stamp in his passport. [...]

Zippin’

I downloaded pictures from my point and shoot camera today and just have to share more. Expect a week of Alaska-related posts as I go through our adventures.
We traveled with my parents as well as my brother and his family. My brother married a woman with three teenagers, and they all decided that MonkeyMan [...]

Biting off…

…more than I can chew. It’s a standard operating procedure for me. I was doing better, only taking on tasks that I could easily finish and learning to say “no”. But I’ve had another setback. You see, I was offered another couple of transcribing jobs. Two months ago, I swore [...]

Spy Bag

I’m on a spy bag making kick these days. I made my first one as part of a blog swap with a friend of a friend in Japan. Then I made a few for birthday gifts. And I made a super jumbo packed one for MonkeyBoy for our recent plane trip. [...]

Car Play Book

While preparing for our recent trip, I knew I needed some activities to keep MonkeyBoy in his airplane seat. One of the things I wanted to make for him was a small playmat that he could use as a scene scape as well as a storage device for his toy cars. I didn’t [...]
